Az MTA Nyelvtudományi Intézetben, 2014. február 25-én, kedden, 10:30-tól(!) a földszinti előadóteremben (Benczúr u. 33.): ELMÉLET ÉS KISÉRLET A NYELVÉSZETBEN -- kerekasztal beszélgetés Résztvevők: É.Kiss Katalin, Gyuris Beáta, Lukács Ágnes, Mády Katalin. Felkért hozzászólók: Surányi Balázs és Zétényi Tamás. Moderátor: Bánréti Zoltán A beszélgetés centrumában az a kérdés fog állni, hogy milyen sajátosságokkal bírnak a kísérletek a nyelvészetben. A résztvevők olyan konkrét kísérletekről számolnak be, melyeket vagy elméletek vezéreltek, illetve motiváltak vagy pedig az elérhető, kimutatható adatok kinyerésére irányultak, és az eredmények hozzátesznek a nyelvről való tudásunkhoz olyat, amit a kísérletek nélkül esetleg nélkülük nem tudtunk volna. A kísérletekhez kapcsolódóan fejtik a résztvevők az álláspontjaikat. Feltehetően szóba kerülnek majd a megítélésekbeli és a produkcióbeli változékonyságok hátterei, (grammatikalitási itéletek megoszlásai, kvantor hatókör értelmezésekbeli ambiguitások, a fókuszinterpretáció változatai, morfológiai-fonológiai ingadozások, a mért nyomatékok, intonációk és azok nyelvtanokbeli leírásai, stb.), amiket gyakran tapasztalunk különféle kontextusokban. A naiv beszélők olykor másként ítélik meg vagy alkalmazzák a nyelvi szabályokat, mint a szakértő nyelvész. Lehet-e kísérletesen igazolni az implicit nyelvi tudás fontos vonásait? A kísérletekhez kapcsolódóan fejti ki mindenki az álláspontját és kíváncsian várjuk a közönség tagjainak véleményét is. The CEU Department of Philosophy cordially invites you to a talk (as part of its Departmental Colloquium series) by Howard Robinson (CEU) on `Is there such a thing as cognitive phenomenology?` Tuesday, 25 February, 2014, 5.30 PM, Zrinyi 14, Room 412 ABSTRACT Everyone - or almost everyone - agrees that there is 'something it is like' to have sensations or perceptual experiences. These are the famous 'quaia'. But is there 'anything it is like' to think, understand, and, generally, to entertain propositional attitudes. The empiricist tradition is sceptical of this - including modern empiricists, such as Jesse Prinz. Others, like Galen Strawson and David Pitt, think there is 'cognitive phenomenology'. I agree with them, but it is not so clear how to characterize it.

Később a női szexualitással hozták összefüggésbe, illetve gyenge férfiak problémájának tartották. A megfejthetetlen tüneteket rendhagyó módon próbálták enyhíteni: köpölyözéssel, hipnózissal; a betegeket bezárták, és cirkuszi látványosságként mutogatták, sokkterápiával kezelték és megcsonkították őket. Andrew Scull monográfiája a 17. századtól követi végig a hisztéria felkavaró történetét egészen a pszichoanalízis kialakulásáig, majd 20. századi eltűnéséig, a pszichiátriai gyógyszerek megjelenéséig. A betegség történetén keresztül új fénybe állítja az orvostudomány fejlődését is. A magyarországi kezelésekről szóló fejezettel Lafferton Emese egészítette ki a könyvet. The CEU Department of Philosophy cordially invites you to a talk (as part of its Departmental Colloquium series) by Peter Adamson (LMU Munich) on The Five Eternals: the Shocking Cosmology of a 10th Century Muslim Platonist Tuesday, 18 February, 2014, 5.30 PM, Zrinyi 14, Room 412 ABSTRACT Among early philosophers in the Islamic world, none is more notorious than Abu Bakr al-Razi (d.925). An expert doctor, he also put forward philosophical ideas that brought accusations of heresy. It's easy to see why: he supposedly denied the validity of prophecy and postulated four eternal principles other than God, namely soul, matter, time and place. In this presentation I will introduce al-Razi's thought and focus on his innovative cosmology, showing how it draws on sources in Plato's "Timaeus".

Dear all, The next talk in the CEU Cognitive Science seminar series will by given by: *Ildikó Király **(ELTE**).* Date: Wednesday, February 12, 2014, 5 PM Location: Cognitive Development Center, Hattyú u. 14, 3rd floor *Title:* Episodic memory: an early available or an emergent complex capability of humans? In this talk I would like to summarize research and debate on early declarative memory competencies: whether young infants can form episodic memories. First, I will introduce the dispute on how episodic memory is defined. Taking Tulving's definition, I plan to show that research with imitation-like methodology cannot be conclusive in this field. Additionally, I'll present a novel set of relational memory studies and preliminary data that could highlight that recollective mnemonic processes (episodic recall) include higher order, top-down processes that emerge later in development.
