from many different universities in Hungary. The idea and motivation are to
facilitate interactions, communication, collaboration among researchers
working here, get to know others and others' interests, topics, etc. And,
of course, to have some drinks and fun in a friendly environment.
Everybody is welcome to attend! If you have any further questions, do not
hesitate to ask.
All the best,

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to remind you that the submission window for talks and symposia at the 13th annual BCCCD meeting will close on Sunday, July 31.
BCCCD23<https://bcccd.org/> will take place in Budapest, Hungary from January 5-7, 2023. Alongside our invited program, we welcome symposium, paper and poster submissions reporting studies from all fields of cognitive development. Previous BCCCD meetings featured a wide range of topics, such as communication, pragmatics, social cognition, conceptual development, language acquisition, numeracy, object cognition, perceptual learning, inductive learning, memory, executive function, metacognition, cognitive bases of culture, and comparative cognition.
New this year, we have a much earlier deadline for submission of talks and symposia in order to accommodate our expanded reviewer pool (while still maintaining our traditional late submission deadline for poster presentations). We are also welcoming proposals for half-day pre-conference events, such as workshops or tutorials, that would be relevant to the BCCCD audience.
INVITED SPEAKERS
H. Clark Barrett<http://www.hclarkbarrett.com/> (University of California, Los Angeles)
Anne Christophe<https://lscp.dec.ens.fr/fr/member/623/anne-christophe> (CNRS & Ecole normale supérieure – PSL, Paris)
Kang Lee<https://www.kangleelab.com/> (University of Toronto)
IMPORTANT DATES
Talk submission deadline: July 31, 2022 midnight CEST (GMT+1)
Symposia submission deadline: July 31, 2022 midnight CEST (GMT+1)
Poster submission deadline: October 1, 2022 midnight CEST (GMT+1)
Pre-conference event submission deadline: October 1, 2022 midnight CEST (GMT+1)
Notification of acceptance: October 31, 2022
Registration opens: November 1, 2022
Despite the unpredictable development of global health conditions in the past years, we are optimistic that BCCCD23 can take place in Budapest as in pre-pandemic times, with hybrid online formats available for those who cannot join us in person. However, we are prepared to transition to a fully online format (as in 2021 and 2022) if necessary, and we will keep you apprised of any developments as they occur.
While CEU has been facing the challenge of relocating most operations to Vienna, we reassure all prospective participants that we are committed to maintaining the tradition of the Budapest campus of CEU as the site of BCCCD meetings in 2023 and beyond.

ABSTRACT:
Despite a clear focus on impression management (IM) in the 1960s and its daily applications in both research and personal contexts, it has only been sprinkled through the literature over the past several decades. Of note, impression management includes both how others see us and how we see ourselves. Inspired by Barry Schlenker (a pioneer and my PhD professor for IM), I've found myself viewing the world through an IM lens for the past 15 years. In this talk, I will summarize the ways in which I have applied IM and where I think it can be best applied in the future. This will begin with how we think about ourselves, with work related to stereotype threat and leadership, move to how others see us, with work related to the schemas and desires that we have regarding leaders, then end with the most complex IM situation - the multiple audience problem. Across all lines of research, I will highlight the novel methodological contributions that I believe are essential to making any empirical contribution.
We look forward to seeing you there!

*Title*: *Digital media use by children and adolescents: a comprehensive
approach to promote wellbeing *
>From work to leisure, screens have become omnipresent in our daily lives.
This trend is not without concern as most children and youth exceed daily
recommended time limits put worth by the World Health Organisation and
Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. What are the consequences of
screen time for children and youth? Do violent contents and video games
present additional concerns? How does the family environment influence the
consequences of screen time? This presentation will address these
questions with a focus on the cognitive, social, and health consequences
and benefits of screen use across the lifespan. Strategies to support
healthy media by children and families will also be discussed.
All welcome!
