Announces
a competition for scholarships for a two-year study period (for a M.Sc.
degree) or a four-year study period (for a PhD degree) at the Graduate
Program in Cognitive Science.
The program is taught in English and is highly interdisciplinary. It
covers psychology, cognitive modeling, neurosciences, linguistics, and
philosophy and requires interdisciplinary research to be done.
Main areas of research are human thinking (analogical reasoning,
problem solving, and decision-making, context effects), memory
(explicit and implicit, dynamic representation), visual perception
(perception of shape, orientation, and movement), language (language
processing in adults, children, and aphasics, cognitive linguistics).
Methodology used includes building up a general cognitive architecture,
cognitive modeling (integration of symbolic and connectionist
approaches), psychophysical, psychological, neuropsychological, and
simulation experiments.
Deadline for application: April 30th, 1999
Study period starts on October 1st, 1999
