ABSTRACT
I start by considering John Broome’s recent account of instrumental reasoning in some
detail. After raising objections to it, I offer a very different picture of reasoning in
general, which makes much more sense of the possibility of reasoning to a sufficient
means. I than raise some difficulties for my own account.
