Subject: Polish Epistemology summer school (contact points at end of message)
This year in Poland it is going to be held the SECOND SUMMER SCHOOL FOR
THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE, devoted to problems related both to theory of
knowledge and philosophy of science. It has a good chance to become an
annual meeting.
We need good candidates and would be very grateful if you could to convey
information about the meeting to those who are interested in the theory of
knowledge (Ph.D. students and young scholars, in particular) and to
encourage them to apply to the School.
The information about the School is put below and (more detailed) in the
attached file. It is also available at our web-page:
http://hektor.umcs.lublin.pl/~zlimn/school
We would be also obliged for any further suggestions, addresses and
contacts.
Please accept in advance my apologies for any inconvenience that my request
may have brought about.
Faithfully yours
Anna Szczesna (Organizing Committee)
SECOND SCHOOL FOR THEORY OF KNOWLEDGE
TIME AND PLACE: Madralin (near Warsaw), Poland, 10- 19 August 1999. It will
end just before the Cracow Congress for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy
of Science.
PROGRAM: The main courses are going to be:
(1) Dagfinn Follesdal "Meaning and Experience";
(2) Gurol Irzik "Kuhn's Linguistic Turn and Its Significance for
Philosophy of Science";
(3) Sten Lindstrom "Dynamic of Belief"
(4) Ernest Sosa "Contextualism and Naturalism in Epistemology";
CONDITIONS (They do NOT apply to invited speakers whose expenses are
covered by organizers):
1. The cost of participation is 500 USD = the participation fee (100 USD -
not refundable) + the accommodation charge (400 USD). However we expect
that we should be able to pay 100 USD for some contributions, which would
cover 100 USD fee.
2. There are 10 stipends (which can be divided into partial ones) but ONLY
for participants from the former so-called "socialist countries). We
(reasonably!) hope that the number of the stipends will be increased.
DEADLINE: April 30, 1999.
