Dear colleagues,
On behalf of BCCCD16 organizing committee, I would like to remind you the
deadlines regarding the submissions. Paper and symposia submission will
close on September 13, and poster submission will close on October 13.
Please visit the conference website for more information about the program
and submission instructions: http://www.bcccd.org/
We also have a facebook group for potential symposium participants to find
each other, you can access the 'BCCCD16 symposium finder' group here:

BCCCD is the only annual conference entirely focused on cognitive
development in Europe. We welcome all the submissions within this research
field. Past BCCCD conferences included presentations on topics such as
comparative cognition, cognitive bases of culture, conceptual learning,
early social cognition, language, numeracy, or object cognition.
Looking forward to your submissions,
The BCCCD16 Organizing Committee

Subject: call for speakers on PhD conference Donders Discussions Nijmegen
To:
Dear Sir/ Madam,
At the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour we are
organising an annual two-day neuroscience conference for PhD candidates,
which this year is to be held 5-6 November 2015 in Nijmegen, the
Netherlands: the Donders Discussions.
http://www.ru.nl/dondersdiscussions/
The idea behind this international conference is to enable PhD candidates
to interactively get to know each other, and to present and discuss their
work in all aspects of neuroscience. Last year this conference was
organised for the fourth time, and with over 200 participants from all over
the Europe, it turned out to be a great success.
This year we would like to organise oral sessions on, among other topics,
*S**patial Perception/ Perception of Time *and* Action and Cognitive
Control*. We are looking for PhD candidates working on these topics who are
willing to give a talk on their current work. To apply for a talk, we ask
them to send us (dondersdiscussions(a)donders.ru.nl) an abstract of 200 words
on the content of their talk. If the abstract is selected, the PhD
candidate will be invited and we will cover the hotel costs and all travel
expenses made.
We would be grateful if you’d be so kind to forward this call for speakers
to all those who might be interested.
Many thanks in advance and with kind regards,
on behalf of the Donders Discussions Committee 2015,
Nynke Niehof and Leslie Gaudron
Dear all,
Please find below information on 2 PhD positions available from the
University of Oslo, Norway. I would appreciate it if you could circulate
this within your own networks. (Apologies for multiple postings…)
Two PhD Research Fellowships within the Research Group in Clinical
Linguistics and Language Acquisition are available at the Department of
Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies, University of Oslo. The Research
Group in Clinical Linguistics and Language Acquisition
<https://www.hf.uio.no/iln/english/research/groups/clinical-ling/> conducts
research on typical and atypical speech and language acquisition in
children and adults, and speech and language as a result of brain damage in
adults (for example aphasia and Alzheimer’s disease), compared to
neurologically healthy adults. Several of the members of the research group
are also associated with the Center for Multilingualism in Society across
the Lifespan <http://www.hf.uio.no/multiling/english/> (MultiLing).
We seek to recruit two PhD candidates with excellent research
qualifications within the areas covered by the research group, more
specifically:
- One PhD fellowship within child language acquisition with or without a
clinical perspective, and
- One PhD fellowship within clinical linguistics with a focus on adults
(e.g. aphasia, dementia, and/or healthy aging)
The appointments are available for three years starting from January 1st,
2016. The deadline for application is August 15th, 2015.

Dear All,
The next talk in the CEU Cognitive Science seminar series will by given by:
Moritz Daum (University of Zurich)
Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 5 PM
Location: Department of Cognitive Science, CEU, Oktober 6 street 7, 1st floor, room 101.
Title: Interrelations between action and language
Much of our daily life is dedicated to the perception of and the interaction with others. Adequate predictions of others’ behaviour allow an adaptation of one’s own behaviour and a smooth and continuous interaction with other interaction partners. In my talk, I will focus on the question how, early in life, we develop expectations of what others are doing and how these expectations are then used to derive predictions about others’ future behaviour. I will present data from studies that addressed the overall question how non-linguistic and linguistic forms of communication (or action and language) are related to each other. In particular, I will discuss how developing language skills are related to developing action skills and to which extent the performance of an action (i.e. enactment) can influence language acquisition.
PLEASE NOTE: Our seminar room has a limited capacity. Please arrive early to ensure you get a seat. The talk will begin promptly at 5.
