MEGHÍVÓ Az MTA Nyelvtudományi Intézet Többnyelvűségi Kutatóközpontja a nemzetközi Mercator-hálózat tagjaként a LEARNMe projekt lezárása alkalmából nemzetközi konferenciát rendez "MINDENNAPI TÖBBNYELVŰSÉG, FENNTARTHATÓ NYELVI SOKSZÍNŰSÉG ÉS TÖBBNYELVŰ BEVONÓDÁS - KISEBBSÉGI NYELVEK KUTATÁSA, OKTATÁSI GYAKORLAT ÉS POLITIKA: A MÓDSZERTAN, TANULÁS ÉS BEVETT FOGALMAK ÚJRAÉRTELMEZÉSE" 'EVERYDAY MULTILINGUALISM, SUSTAINABLE LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY AND MULTIN-ENGAGEMENT: MERCATOR-LEARNME CONFERENCE ON MINORITY LANGUAGE RESEARCH, EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE AND POLICY. REVISITING METHODOLOGY, LEARNING AND ESTABLISHED CONCEPTS' címmel 2015. szeptember 18-19-én Budapesten. Helyszín: Larus Rendezvényközpont (1124 Budapest, Csörsz utca 18/b). Az 1987 óta fennálló, nemzetközi szakember- és kutatóhálózatot tömörítő többnyelvűségi platform, a Mercator-hálózat kiemelt feladata, hogy a kisebbségi, regionális, nem domináns nyelveket használó közösségek, valamint az európai döntéshozatali szervek közötti párbeszédet elősegítve a nyilvánosság figyelmét e nyelvek szociális, gazdasági és kulturális jelentőségére irányítsa. A 2012-2015 között megvalósuló Mercator-LEARNMe projekt elsődleges célja a radikális átalakulásban lévő európai nyelvi sokféleség, kiemelten pedig az Unió regionális és kisebbségi nyelvei megtartásának és megerősítésének újszerű, alulról felfelé irányuló, az érintett közösségek messzemenő bevonásával történő újragondolása volt, a valódi közösségi igényekre reagáló politikai döntéshozatal ösztönzése érdekében. Az MTA Nyelvtudományi Intézet Többnyelvűségi Kutatóközpontjának részvétele a négy további nemzetközi partnerrel megvalósuló projektben kiemelt szereppel bír: jelenlétével a kelet-közép-európai régió specifikus társadalmi kérdései a legszélesebb európai szakmai és döntéshozatali nyilvánosság elé kerülhetnek, közöttük a régióban különösen hátrányos helyzetben lévő kisebbségi közösségeket is - mint a romák, valamint a siketek - érintő diskurzusok s azok a modellértékű kezdeményezések is, amelyekkel e tekintetben Magyarország és a régiónk mintát jelenthet más országok számára. A LEARNMe projekt zárókonferenciájának célja, hogy mind tartalmában, mind módszertani megoldásain keresztül olyan platformot teremtsen a kutatás, a jogalkotás, a nyelvpolitika, az oktatás, valamint a média területein tevékenykedő szakemberek számára, amely multidiszciplináris, egyszersmind a kisebbségi közösségek és nyelveik jelenét és jövőjét érintő kérdéseket a fenti területek közötti hatékony átjárhatóságot felmutató keretben, új megközelítésben kezeli: az egyes szakterületek képviselőit a legérintettebbek, a kisebbségek helyzetére, érdekeire és tudására hangolva, egyúttal őket bevonva, együtt és egymástól tanulva nyit lehetőséget a közös gondolkodásra. A kétnapos konferencia ily módon kiváló lehetőséget kínál a találkozásra és párbeszédre a magyar, regionális és EU-s kutatók, politikusok, a gyakorlati szakemberek és az érintett közösségek tagjai számára, a nyelvi sokszínűség jogi, nyelvpolitikai, médiabeli aspektusait a legtágabb értelemben vett oktatás, tanulás, valamint a tudáshoz való hozzáférés mentén tematizálva. Mindezzel a rendezvény azt a lényeges üzenetet kívánja közvetíteni, miszerint Európa nyelvi sokszínűsége hosszú távon csak a tudás- és kompetenciacsere új nézőpontjainak és formáinak, szereplőinek, továbbá a politika, jogalkotás, kutatás, oktatás szakemberein túl az érintett közösségek átalakuló szerepeinek, alulról szerveződő jó gyakorlatainak aktív bevonásával tartható fenn. A rendezvényen a plenáris és szekcióelőadások, kerekasztal-beszélgetések, workshopok és más interaktív programok mellett számos videóbemutató, internetes platform, a közösségi bevonódás eredményeképpen született prezentációk és poszterkiállítás is megtekinthető lesz. [Koglist] Two post-doctoral positions in Jena, Germany

The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena <http://www.shh.mpg.de/en> (Germany) are seeking to employ two full-time postdoctoral researchers in the field of cultural evolution. The positions are tied to the Minds and Traditions research group (“the Mint”) <http://www.shh.mpg.de/94549/The-Mint>, an Independent Max Planck Research Group that will open in 2016. They are for 2 years, renewable for a total of 5 years maximum, starting in the first half of 2016. Candidates need to have completed a PhD, and to be familiar with the field of cultural evolution. They will be expected to take part in a research project devoted to the cognitive science and cultural evolution of graphic codes. [Koglist] Award ceremony of the first Newton da Costa prize of logic

Recently happened in Florianopolis, Brazil the award ceremony of the first Newton da Costa prize of logic. This is a prize that will be attributed every year to the best paper written by someone working in Brazil. The winner of Newton da Costa prize 2015 is Rodrigo Freire from the University of Brasilia for his paper "First-order logic and first-order function" which has just been published in the journal Logica Universalis http://link.springer.com/journal/11787/9/3/page/1 Besides the publication of his paper, the participation to an international event outside of Brazil was offered to the winner, it was the participation to UNILOG'2015 in Istanbul, Turkey http://www.uni-log.org/UNILOG2015-Congress We encourage every country to organize each year a prize of logic along the same scheme, choosing the name of a great logician of the country. This is useful to develop interaction between logicians in a given country, to make internationally known their work and in general to promote logic in the world. Jaakko Hintikka was born on 12 January 1929 in the Helsinki county (Vantaa) in Finland. He studied mathematics (with Rolf Nevanlinna) and philosophy (with Georg Henrik von Wright) at the University of Helsinki since 1947, and defended his doctoral dissertation on distributive normal forms in 1953. After his Ph.D. studies he worked as junior fellow at Harvard University in 1956-59, and became in 1957 (independently of Stig Kanger) the founder of possible world semantics. In 1962 he published his groundbreaking work Knowledge and Belief on epistemic logic. In 1959 Hintikka was appointed, at the age of 30, professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Helsinki. In 1964 he became also professor of philosophy at Stanford University which - with Patrick Suppes and Dagfinn Föllesdal - was one of the leading centers of philosophy of science and philosophical logic. Hintikka’s new interests included inductive logic and semantic information. He shared his time between Stanford and Helsinki until the end of the 1970s. In 1965 Hintikka started his work with D. Reidel’s Publishing Company (later Kluwer Academic Publishers) in Holland as the editor-in-chief of the journal Synthese and the book series Synthese Library.
