*Learning and Perception (L&P) is a new journal published by Akadémiai
Kiadó. The journal publishes original research articles, short papers,
theoretical papers, critical reviews, and book reviews. It is concerned with
various aspects of human learning, memory and perception. Coverage includes,
but is not limited to experimental, neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric
studies on human cognition. An important function of the journal is to bring
together experimental research, clinical studies and high level theoretical
reviews on human information processing. The journal publishes two issues a
year and additional special issues devoted to important topics in the field.

A szemantikai és szintaktikai integráció az igei inflexió afáziás
korlátozódásánál

Az inflexiós morfémák produkciójának szelektív deficitje jól ismert az
agrammatikus mondatprodukció szisztematikus elemzésével foglalkozó
szakirodalomban. Egyes héber, japán, spanyol, arab, német nyelven
végzett vizsgálatok eredményei azt mutatják, hogy az agrammatikus
afáziásoknál az egyeztetési inflexió megőrzött, míg az idői inflexió
sérül. Ezt a disszociációt a funkcionális projekciók szelektív
károsodásával, az időjegy alulspecifikáltságával, az időmorféma lexikai
hozzáférésének korlátozottságával vagy a szintaktikai és szemantikai
információk integrációjának deficitjével magyarázzák.
Az (i) egyeztetésre (AGR) és az (ii) időkongruenciára (Tense)
való érzékenységet grammatikalitási döntési feladattal vizsgáltuk 10
agrammatikus afáziásnál. A válaszokat a döntés gyorsasága (reakcióidő)
és a helyes válaszok száma (teljesítmény) szempontjából értékeltük.
A kapott teljesítmény-mintázatok (helyes válaszok aránya) az AGR
és TENSE disszociációját mutatják: az agrammatikusok az egyeztetési
hibára érzékenyebbek, mint az időhatározó-igeidő kongruenciájának
megsértésére, de ez a szétválás nem vezethető vissza az AgrS/TenseP
funkcionális kategóriák hierarchikus pozíciójára. A vizsgálat szerint a
reakcióidőt és a teljesítményt a szórend jelentősen befolyásolja: az
ALANY-IDŐHATÁROZÓ-TÁRGY-IGE szórendnél az agrammatikus mondatok
reakcióidő-átlagai magasabbak, mint a grammatikus mondatoké, és a
magasabb döntési idő-átlagokhoz találgatás szintű teljesítmény társul.
Az ALANY-IGE-TÁRGY-IDŐHATÁROZÓ szórendnél ettől eltérő mintázatot
találtunk.
Az eredmények értelmezéséhez olyan elméleti keretet használtunk,
amely az AGR / Tense disszociációt a szintaktikai és szemantikai
információk integrációjának deficitjeként értelmezi, és a munkamemória
kapacitásának patológiás csökkenésével hozza összefüggésbe.

We are pleased to announce our second Summer Institute -- to be held from
June the 28th to July the 6th 2008, at the height of Montreal cultural
season (International Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs comedy fest, Fantasia
Film festival, and more).
Our first Cognitive Science Summer Institute brought together more than 150
local and international participants who met and exchanged ideas on the
topic of categorization. It was a great success according to all involved,
and has spawned an authoritative 32-chapter text on the matter, the Handbook
of Categorization in Cognitive Science (Cohen and Lefebvre, eds, Elsevier).
Entitled Minds and Societies, the 2008 Summer Institute will again address
an important current topic in cognitive science: social cognition. The
Institute is gathering leading researchers on the interface and transition
between individual ideas and minds and collective, distributed ones
(biosocial psychology, cognitive anthropology, social neuroscience,
distributed cognition, extended mind philosophy, etc.). We hope that all
will be stimulated by this confluence of perspectives. Confirmed speakers
include (alphabetically): Daniel Batson, Paul Bloom, Richard Byrne, Angelo
Cangelosi, Daniel Dennett, Terrence Deacon, Merlin Donald, Shimon Edelman,
Rob Goldstone, Philip Jackson, Frank Keil, Andrew Meltzoff, Jesse Prinz,
Barry Wellman, and many more.

The Summer Institute welcomes both junior and senior scientists and scholars
in the many fields impinging on social cognition as well as graduate
students (enrollment can be credited 3 credits by the University of Québec
at Montréal and may be transferred towards your degree). Researchers and
graduate students may also present their work at a special posters session
(the call for posters will be sent out soon).

C¹est avec grand plaisir que nous annonçons notre second Institut d'été en
sciences cognitives, lequel aura lieu du 28 juin au 6 juillet 2008, en plein
c¦ur de la saison culturelle montréalaise (Festival International de Jazz,
Festival Juste pour Rire, Fantasia, pour n¹en mentionner que quelques-uns).
Notre premier Institut d¹été en sciences cognitives a rassemblé plus de 150
participants locaux et internationaux qui se sont rencontrés et ont échangé
autour de la question de la catégorisation. De l¹aveu de tous les
participants, ce premier Institut d¹été fut un énorme succès, qui a donné
naissance à un ouvrage important en la matière, le Handbook of
Categorization in Cognitive Science (sous la direction d¹Henri Cohen et de
Claire Lefebvre, publié chez Elsevier).
Intitulé Minds and Societies, l'Institut d¹été de 2008 traitera cette fois
encore d¹une question importante et d¹actualité en sciences cognitives : la
cognition sociale. L'institut regroupera les principaux chercheurs à la
frontière entre la cognition individuelle et celle de nature collective et
distribuée (psychologie biosociale, anthropologie cognitive, neurosciences
sociales, cognition distribuée, philosophie de l'esprit étendu, etc.). Nous
espérons que tous seront stimulés par cette convergence de perspectives. Les
