A Szegedi Egyetem Elettani Intezet szimpoziumra invital minden, a
latorendszer kutatasa es modellezese irant erdeklodot. A forum
kivalo lehetoseget nyujt a hallgatosag szamara hogy nemzetkozi
szintu eloadasokat halljon es szemelyes kontaktust teremtsen a szakma
hazai kepviseloivel. A szimpozium immaron a nyolcadik ilyen evenkent
tartott osszejovetel, melyet a mostanra megszokotta valt formaban
szervezunk az alabbi modon.

III. Cel:
A szimpoziumnak fo celja, hogy forumot, talalkozasi lehetoseget
biztositson azon hazai es kulfoldon dolgozo kutatoknak
(neuroanatomusoknak, neurofiziologusoknak, pszichologusoknak es
neuralis halozatokat modellezo elmeleti szakembereknek), akik a latas
kozponti idegrendszeri feldolgozasanak problemajaval kapcsolatos
teruleteken dolgoznak.
IV. Forma:
A szimpozium formaja nagyon kotetlen, nyelve magyar.
Minden eloado 15-perces eloadast tart, 5-10 perces vitalehetoseggel az
eloadas utan. Celunk nem a formalitas hanem, hogy minel tobb es minel
kozvetlenebb parbeszedre adjunk lehetoseget
V. Resztvevok,eloadasok:
A resztvevok nevsora nem rogzitett. Szivesen latott mindenki, aki
egyetert a szimpozium celjaival, es ugy erzi, hogy abba illo eloadast
tudna tartani, vagy csak egyszeruen erdekli a fenti temakor. Ugyanugy
mint az elmult alkalomakkor, foleg olyan fiatalabb- idosebb kutatok
szerepleset szeretnenk elerni, akik munkajukkal (akar itthon akar
kulfoldon) potencialisan hozza tudnak jarulni a tema hazai
meghonosodasahoz es elismertte tetelehez. A talalkozo profiljanak
megfeleloen az eloadasok a latorendszeri anatomia es fiziologia,
vizualis pszichofizika, magasabb szintu latas, pszichologia,
matematikai es szamitogepes modellezes temakorokbol allnak ossze, de
szivesen latunk mindenkit akit altalaban a percepcio, a felismeres
temakore erdekel.
VI. Jelentkezes:
Aki eloadast szeretne tartani a szimpoziumon, kerjuk, lepjen

VII. Dijak, szallas:
Reszveteli dij nincs. A szimpozium egy napos igy szallas ra csak
azoknak van szuksege akik hosszabb tartozkodast terveznek. Ilyen
esetekben a szallas onkoltseges, aminek megszervezeseben a szervezok
segitenek.

Mint a szegedi szimpoziumoknal mar megszokhattuk, iden is tervezzuk a
szimpozium kotetlen vacsoraval valo zarasat.

Epistemology Engines
The history of science is filled with important theories and discoveries
based upon observations of technologies, for example, thermodynamics
comes from the steam engine as historians claim. I shall examine
several cases of lifeworld practices which relate to scientific
developments, including cannon warfare and ballistics, railway schedules
and clocks for special relativity, etc. But the focus will be upon
technologies which become explicit models for knowledge production. In
the first case, I shall examine the role of the camera obscura for early
modern epistemology and then the 'return of the book of life' for
contemporary epistemology.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers are solicited on all aspects of the origin and evolution of
language, from any relevant discipline, including Anthropology,
Archaeology, Artificial Intelligence, Biology, Cognitive Science,
Computational or Mathematical Modelling, Ethology, Genetics,
Linguistics, Neuroscience, Palaeontology, and Psychology. It is
anticipated that papers will be presented in 25 minutes, with 5 minutes
for discussion. Papers will be accepted on the basis of submitted
abstracts, refereed by independent assessors. Some papers not accepted
as talks will be accepted as posters.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Deadline: October 31st, 2001.
Length limit: 1 single page, with reasonable margins (at least 1 inch
(2.5cm)
all round, in print no smaller than 10pt, and preferably larger)
Format: A MSWord.doc file, modified from the template downloadable from
the website (see above).
Submission: Electronically --- attach your MSWord formatted abstract to
an email message sent to evolang(a)ling.ed.ac.uk . Do not attempt to
include your abstract in the body of your message.
