Adolf Gr=FCnbaum, Andrew Mellon Professor of Philosophy of Science,
research professor of psychiatry, and chairman of the Center for
Philosophy of science at the University of Pittsburgh, is the author of
twelve books, including Philosophical Problems of Space and Time, The
Foundations of Psychoanalysis: A Philosophical Critique (also published
in Hungarian: A
pszichoanalizis alapjai, Osiris, 1996), and Validation in the Clinical
Theory of Psychoanalysis: A Study in the Philosophy of Psychoanalysis.
His offices include the presidency of the American Philosophical
Association (Eastern Division) and of the Philosophy of Science
Association,Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Science and of
the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Laureate of
the International Academy of Humanism.

Meaning and Consequences of Natural Laws
Wolfgang Pauli once said, he hopes that no one still is of the opinion
that physical theories can be derived from experimental results. He
then goes on to say, that the way, physical theories are created, can
best be understood in terms of Plato as coincidence of "inner picturs"
with "outer objects" and their behaviour. Albert Einstein, in a letter
to his friend Solovine, designs similar pictures about physics.
In our lectures we shall devellop these ideas with concrete examples of
modern physics and ask the question, what consequences are - often
subconsciously - observable in the behaviour of modern society.

Az emberi gondolkodas nem racionalis, de egyertelmuen ertelmes formai
Ertelmes gondolkodason azt ertem, amikor az ember kepes a vilag olyan
igazsagainak megismeresere, amelyek megismeresere semmifele erzekszerve
nincsen. Ilyesfajta megismeresre tud vezetni peldaul a racionalis
gondolkodas, a formalis logika segitsegevel. Ilyenkor a fo modszer:
kiserletezzunk es gondolkozzunk. Igy fejtettuk meg peldaul a genetikai
kodot, innen ismerjuk az egitestek mozgasat. Ugyanakkor a kiserleti
pszichologia, foleg a hipnoziskutatas, olyan jelensegeket tart fel,
amelyekben bebizonyithato, hogy a kiserleti szemely igenis kepes volt a
vilag olyan kulso igazsagainak megismeresere, amelyek eszlelesere
EGYRESZT semmifele erzekszerve nincs, MASRESZT bizonyithato, hogy
tisztan a formalis logika segitsegevel nem juthatott el a megismert
igazsaghoz. Eszerint tehat az ertelmes emberi gondolkodasnak vannak nem
racionalis (de legalabbis: nem logikus) formai is.
