The COGNITIVE SCIENCE QUARTERLY (ISSN 1466-6553)
The first issue of CSQ will be published in February, 2000. It will
hopefully be somewhat longer than 128 pages (at the expense of issue #2,
since we have a limit of 512 pages per year) and contain the following
articles, given here in alphabetical order: -- Margaret A. Boden:
Autopoiesis and life. -- Daničle Dubois: Categories as acts of meaning:
The case of categories in olfaction and audition. -- Trevor B. Penney,
Axel Mecklinger, H. John Hilton & Lynn A. Cooper: Priming and recognition
of novel 3D objects: Guidance from event-related potentials. -- Paul
Thagard: Probabilistic networks and explanatory coherence. -- Stefan Wahl
& Hans Spada: Children's reasoning about intentions, beliefs and
behaviour.
I'm glad that we have such a strong issue to start with. For marketing,
we'll put the whole issue (full text) on our web site from about December,
15, onward:
http://www.iig.uni-freiburg.de/cognition/csq So everything
seems perfect.
==> The weak point is: WE ARE IN NEED OF SUBMISSIONS. In fact, I still got
nothing beyond issue #2, which means that we need urgently around ten to
twelve article submissions until January (February at the latest) in order
to be able to continue. Therefore, I appeal to you all to acquire suitable
submissions to CSQ from your co-workers and other colleagues you know.
PLEASE HELP CSQ TO BECOME A SUCCESS!!! All information needed by authors
is on our web site (Guidelines for authors, Word style sheets, etc.).
Last not least, some information on how to subscribe to CSQ: Subscription
rates per year, four issues (ca. 500 pages): Institutions: Europe 180,
outside Europe 195. Special low rates for individuals: Europe 50,
outside Europe 70 (Individual rates apply only if payment is made by
personal cheque or credit card and issues are sent to a personal address.)

Thank you very much,
