The Neuroethology of Communication Lab <http://etologia.elte.hu/en/neuroethology-of-communication/>, headed by Attila Andics, invites applications for two full-time Postdoctoral Researchers. The postdocs will contribute to the ERC-funded research project VOIMA <https://erc.easme-web.eu/?p=950159> that combines ethology and non-invasive brain imaging (EEG, fNIRS, fMRI) to explore the neural bases of voice and speech processing in dogs, pigs and humans. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in cognitive (neuro)science, psychology, biology, psycholinguistics or a related discipline, and have a good publication record that includes neuroimaging studies. A strong experience in EEG/ERP (PD1) and/or fNIRS/HD-DOT (PD2) data analysis is required. Candidates with an additional background in auditory/speech sciences or dog/pig ethology, experience with comparative fMRI, and strong technical skills (competence in R, Matlab, Python, and/or advanced neuroimaging analysis methods) are preferred. Candidates are expected to have excellent scientific writing skills, to be able to work independently, but also in a multidisciplinary team. The lab is hosted by the Department of Ethology, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) <http://etologia.elte.hu/en/home-2/>, Budapest, Hungary, a world-leading centre of ethological and brain imaging research in dogs. This is a truly vivid, dynamic, multidisciplinary, international community, with unique expertise in performing experiments with companion animals. We cooperate with two imaging centres with 3T MRI scanners, and provide in-house access to EEG/ERP and a brand new fNIRS/HD-DOT lab. Animal touchscreen, motion tracking sensors, and multiple behavioural and training labs are also available on site. The positions are available from September 2021, but the start date can be flexible.
