The Philosophy Department cordially invites you to a public lecture by Tamar Szabo Gendler (Cornell University) on Self-Deception and Pretense 5.00 PM, 25. March, Thursday, Zrinyi 14/ Room 412 Tamar Szabo Gendler is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Cornell University. During academic year 2003-4 she is a Fellow at the Collegium Budapest. Her work focuses primarily on issues in epistemology, philosophical psychology, metaphysics and aesthetics. She is currently working on a cluster of problems surrounding the relation between imagination and belief, including issues about the nature of imagination, fictional emotions, self-deception, and truth in fiction. Her other recent work has concerned topics in metaphysics and epistemology including conceivability and possibility, the essentiality of origin, personal identity, and the methodology of thought experiment.
