Dear Colleagues,
We opened a new postdoc position at the Cognitive Development Center at CEU! The research
aims to explore the logical reasoning in a developmental context and whether preverbal
infants have access to logical operators and quantifiers. Experience with infant research
is an advantage but it is not an exclusive criteria. The position is supported by an ERC
founded grant.

The Department of Cognitive Science at Central European University announces the opening
of one postdoctoral position at the Cognitive Development Center (CDC).
The project aims to investigate the precursors of logical operations in early development
targeting various cognitive processes that contribute to abstract combinatorial thought
involved in reasoning and problem-solving. We target the early forms of logical inferences
and the way this repertoire is integrated with other kind of information in different
cognitive domains. The project and the candidate will benefit of the rich and lively
research environment at the CDC that covers broad areas of cognitive development.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field, and a strong record of
prior research accomplishments. The successful applicant is expected to develop and
conduct research investigating the logical primitives possibly present at preverbal stages
of cognitive development, perform behavioral and eye tracking studies primarily with
infants, but possibly also with children/adults. Experience with infant research is an
advantage.
Compensation
We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic
and international academic environment. The initial contract is for one year with the
possibility of extension.
The research is funded by a European Research Council grant and coordinated by Ernő
