The Memory and Language Lab and Department of Clinical Psychology &
Addiction at Eotvos Lorand University cordially invite you to a talk
by
*Zoltan Mari* (Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Baltimore)
*Electrophysiological markers of psychogenic movement disorders*
Movement disorder clinics around the globe are perplexed by the rising
number of psychogenic cases, which pose frustrating challenges from both
the diagnostic & therapeutic standpoints. As 'disease markers' are becoming
a critically important research target in a host of other disorders,
psychogenic movement disorders remain elusive. This talk will review past
research milestones in the quest to establish diagnostic markers for
psychogenic movement disorders and presents one specific research study
that investigated the feasibility of using 'event related
desynchronization' (ERD) as a possible measure to document psychogenic
etiology in comparison with a more established EEG measure
(Bereitschaftspotential) in this regard.
