June 9, 1999, 4:30 PM Adolf Grünbaum, Andrew Mellon Professor of Philosophy of Science, research professor of psychiatry, and chairman of the Center for Philosophy of science at the University of Pittsburgh, is the author of twelve books, including Philosophical Problems of Space and Time, The Foundations of Psychoanalysis: A Philosophical Critique (also published in Hungarian: A pszichoanalízis alapjai, Osiris, 1996), and Validation in the Clinical Theory of Psychoanalysis: A Study in the Philosophy of Psychoanalysis. His offices include the presidency of the American Philosophical Association (Eastern Division) and of the Philosophy of Science Association,Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Science and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Laureate of the International Academy of Humanism.
