Dear all,
Nathan offers a PhD position in his MEG lab in Salzburg starting from
September 2017.
Please share with potentially interested students / candidates.
/The successful candidate will devise transcranial electrical
stimulation (tES)//
//protocols that modulate auditory cortical brain activity in
individuals with normal hearing and//
//tinnitus. The impact of the tES will be assessed using behavioral and
online neurophysiological//
//recordings (MEG). The long-term aim in which this project is embedded
is to devise strategies//
//to determine tES parameters that modulate auditory cortical
activity reliably on an individual//
//level./
/The successful candidate should hold a Master Degree (or
equivalent) e.g. in psychology, //
//biology, engineering, medical sciences or any other field related to
the project. S/he is highly //
//intrinsically motivated and driven by profound neuroscientific
curiosity. Excellent English skills //
//in oral and written form are required. Basic Matlab or other
programming skills are desirable. /
Further details you will find below and attached.
Cheers,
Anne

Subject: 11 open PhD positions in Vienna - Cognition & Communication
Dear Colleagues,
This is to alert you (and more importantly your most promising Masters students!) to the existence of 11 fully funded PhD positions in Vienna, under the broad heading of cognitive biology, in our newly funded doctoral training program "Cognition & Communication”. This involves 10 faculty members at two universities. All training will be in English, so knowledge of German is not required.
The faculty members are:
Tecumseh Fitch (speaker), Thomas Bugnyar, Walter Hödl, Kurt Kotrschal, Claus Lamm, Angela Stoeger, Sabine Tebbich (University of Vienna) and Ludwig Huber (co-speaker), Leonida Fusani, and, Friederike Range (University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna)
For more information, please follow this link:

I would be most appreciative if you could spread this announcement around, and in particular direct it to the attention of your brightest research-oriented students! We hope to receive many excellent applications.
Thanks in advance,
Tecumseh Fitch

Dear Colleagues,
The Cognitive Development Center at CEU is pleased to announce the eighth annual BCCCD meeting in Budapest, Hungary (BCCCD18, January 4-6, 2018). Undeterred by the recent steps undertaken by the Hungarian government against our university, we would like to reassure all prospective participants that the conference will definitely take place under all circumstances (more here<https://www.ceu.edu/category/istandwithceu>, #IstandwithCEU).
We welcome submissions from all areas related to cognitive development. Previous BCCCD meetings featured a variety of topics such as comparative cognition, cognitive bases of culture, biological bases of cognition, conceptual learning, perceptual learning, early social cognition, language acquisition, executive functions, metacognition, communication, numeracy, and object cognition.

„Nyelvészként gyereknyelvkutatással, hangtannal és szociolingvisztikával
foglalkozom. Amikor a gyerekek nyelvét vizsgálom, a legfiatalabb
korosztálynak, a csecsemőknek a tanulási folyamataira koncentrálok. Amikor
A csecsemők nyelvelsajátítását nyomon követve bemutatja, milyen
az, ha két nyelvészeti terület, a hangtan és a szociolingvisztika
találkozik a babákkal és a kutatókkal.”
